10 Simple Tips to Enjoy Apples

Will an apple a day keep the doctor away? It sure can’t hurt!  Apples are healthy with many nutritional benefits. Here are 10 simple tips to help you get that apple a day. Apples in any way, shape, or form are good as healthy snacks, as part of a full meal, and as a dessert. 


10. Salads and Slaws
Shred Fuji apples with peel on and add into green salads or cabbage slaws. Peels help boost the fiber and nutrition.
9. Apples and Cheese
Slice Macintosh apples and cheddar cheese together. It’s a great packable lunch food as well.
8. Muffins and Cakes
Stir diced Delicious apples and walnuts into muffin and cake batter. Bake for a toasty warm treat.
7. Apple Puree
Puree and cook Granny Smith apples to make apple sauce or apple butter. Serve on whole wheat toast for breakfast or on rice crackers for a tasty snack.
6. Stewed Apples
Add orange or apple juice to Gala apple slices, peel on. Add a little agave sweetener and make a tangy topping for pancakes or waffles.
5. Rice Topping
Peel and dice Honeycrisp appless into small pieces. Sprinkle over rice pilaf for a taste alternative.
4. Baked Apples
Hollow out the MacIntosh core and stuff with granola, nuts, and cranberries. Add a little orange juice for moisture’s sake and a flavor zing.
3. Apples and Sausage
Sautee Fuji apples, onions, and sausage together. Serve as a breakfast side dish.
2. Dried Apple Slices
Slice Granny Smith apples thinly and lay out single file on a cookie sheet. Air dry or place in a warm, not hot oven over night. Makes a great after-school or after-work snack.
1. Keep Alert
Next time you have a long drive along a highway at night. Try eating an apple, slowly. It will keep you awake while you eat and the sweet goodness will keep you aware and alert.

Simple 10
Fruit is a major part of any dietary plan. Whenever possible, choose organic, since tiny choices add up to great habits. Any apples, fresh and tart, will taste delicious. Classic!
