10 Simple Tips for Smooth Glowing Skin

Natural skin care for hands, lotion, fruits and vegetables.
Skin is the largest organ in your body. It covers all parts of you to act as a protective barrier against common and toxic invaders. Not only is it the most sensitive part of your beauty, it helps keep your temperature even and gets rid of excess toxins and wastes.

Eat Right, Exercise, Rest
Glowing, luminous skin comes naturally as part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Choose to eat right to improve digestion—eat plenty of fiber foods, reduce the sugars, and include the good fats into your diet. Get plenty of exercise to boost your circulation. Make adequate sleep a priority and schedule rest periods throughout the day.

Try out some of these tips for natural skin care using organic ingredients or products.

10. Drink Plenty of Water
You may hear this tip about all kinds of health issues. It is simple and true— adequate water is essential to health. Drinking plenty of water helps to bathe the skin cells in moisture and acts as a flowing carrier to flush out wastes that might affect the skin quality.
9. Dry Brush Exfoliation
Dead skin cells tend to accumulate on the surface of the skin. Practice dry-brush exfoliation to get rid of dead skin cells and help your whole body detox. It also improves the circulation and relieves puffiness. Use a soft, natural bristle skin brush. Stand in the tub, no water running. Use a very light pressure and brush in small circles from feet to neck. When you are finished, begin your shower.

8. Apply Witch Hazel or Apple Cider Vinegar
These two natural toners help condition your skin throughout the day. Use a cotton makeup pad or a cotton ball. First use a gentle cleanser to wash and rinse your face. Then gently apply directly from the bottle on a cotton makeup pad or cotton ball. There is no need to rinse.

7. Avoid Sun Burn
While some sun is good for you, excess sun causes sun burn and damages the skin. Your face is exposed to the sun more that almost any other part of your body. A sun protection plan is an important part of skin care. Keep your face shaded. Avoid direct sun during late mornings/afternoon or wear a wide-brimmed hat. Sunscreen as a skin care product may be necessary.
6. Add Wasabi
Wasabi, in the same family as horseradish, has plenty of health benefits for the skin. Add it to your favorite massage oil and the spicy warmth supports oxygenation at the skin cell level. Wasabi has antimicrobial properties as well as calcium, vitamin C, and potassium.
5. Use Cucumbers and Tomatoes
Cucumber slices over the eyes has long been the picture of quality spa therapy. Cucumbers have amino acids that shrink or tighten the pores, reduce puffiness around the eyes, and refresh the skin with moisture. Another common vegetable great for natural skin care is the tomato. Tomatoes have natural acids that help to clear out dirt from pores. That’s useful for skin cleaning in general and exceptional for acne or blackheads.
4. Apply a Honey Mask for Acne
Honey has long been used medicinally to treat wounds. It’s a potent antiseptic that helps to prevent the growth of bacteria in your pores. It also produces hydrogen peroxide that helps to disinfect. Choose raw honey over processed honey. Apply it directly to pimples and whiteheads, or try a honey mask. Wash with a gentle cleanser and rinse your face. Use your wet hands to apply the raw honey directly over your face. Gently rub or massage your skin and let the mask stay on for a couple of minutes. Rinse with warm water.
3. Mix Black Pepper and Yogurt
For a thorough cleanser, try making a paste of black pepper and yogurt. This is especially useful for blackheads that are caused by clogged pores. Mix enough black pepper into a tablespoon of thick plain yogurt to create a paste. Apply to skin, taking care to avoid the eyes, nose, and lips. Let it rest on your skin for a few minutes and carefully wipe off and rinse with warm water. The pepper warms and cleans the pores deeply.
2. Mash an Avocado Moisturizer
Avocados are a natural organic moisturizer. Choose a soft ripe avocado and mash half into a creamy pulp. Apply over your face and let it rest on the skin for several minutes. Rinse with warm water. There are natural fatty acids in avocados that leave your skin feeling soft and moist.

Did you know that it takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile? Smiling relaxes your face and rejuvenates your skin. Frequent frowning causes deep wrinkling. Smiling often has the added benefit of placing a pleasant expression on your face that people will notice. Smiles make you feel good inside and out.

But if you don’t have time in your busy life, choose natural skin care products that contain some of the ingredients above. Remember, even small choices to go natural add up to a greater, greener world.
