10 Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and Vegetables.
Plant-based foods help you to keep weight under control and lead to good health overall. Eating a diet strong in fruits and vegetables encourages healthy cells and reduces inflammation that may be linked to cancer. Plants contain:
Antioxidants—these fight the free radicals that can potentially damage cellular DNA and other cellular structures.
Phytonutrients—may block carcinogens and help to suppress malignant cell growth.
Indole-3-carbinol—a compound that may protect the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts against cancers as well as skin and breast malignancies.
Ellagic acid—protects against breast, skin, bladder, esophageal and lung cancers.
Flavonoids—neutralize the free radicals; help prevent cell damage associated with cancer.
Resveratrol-- an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, helps to keep tumor cells from growing or invading surrounding tissues.
Omega-3 fatty acids—help prevent the low-level inflammation linked to cancer development.

10.Cruciferous Vegetables
Vegetables in the crucifer family, such as cauliflower, kale, turnips, Brussels sprouts, and cabbage are loaded with antioxidants, flavonoids, and vitamins.
9. Berries
Blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and cranberries contain ellagic acid, and they are full of antioxidants, flavonoids and vitamins.
8.Grapes
Purple and red varieties contain resveratrol in the skins. 
7. Dark Leafy Greens
Spinach, mustard greens, kale, and chard have fiber, folate and antioxidants.
6. Apples
Truly may keep the doctor away, apples have major dietary flavonoids, such as quercetin. 
5. Allium Family
Onions and garlic are also good sources of the flavonoid quercetin.
4.Tomatoes
Cooked tomatoes are a very good source of the antioxidant lycopene. Cooking releases more of the lycopene. Carrots, grapefruit and watermelon also contain lycopene.
3.Nuts and Grains
Nuts and seeds have fiber, vitamin E, and antioxidants. Flax, Chia seeds, walnuts are great sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Wheat, oats, bran, and bulghur are high fiber grains.
2. Green Tea
One of the strongest sources of antioxidants. Also has heart-protective qualities.
1. Coffee
Coffee contains B vitamins, many phytonutrients, and antioxidants.

In laboratory studies, there are various vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that show promise as cancer fighters. However, it’s more likely the way these various elements work together in your overall diet that will give the greatest cancer protection. 
Eating fruits and vegetables may not guarantee that you won’t get cancer. But it’s an easy way to lower your risk and, best of all, it will help you keep up your overall good health.
